About Brenda

Dr. McNeil is a professor, author, speaker, consultant, and president of Salter McNeil and Associates. She graduated from Fuller with a MDiv in 1984.

Dr. McNeil teaches at Seattle Pacific University and directs the Reconciliation Studies minor for the undergraduate program. In this capacity, she recruits and mentors students; partners with the John Perkins Center for Reconciliation, Leadership, and Community Development to identify community-based partners, and oversees internship opportunities to give students practical reconciliation experience in the Seattle area. In addition, she teaches Master of Divinity students in the seminary program to equip them to be more effective in a diverse, multiethnic society.

In 2008, Dr. McNeil was awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters from North Park University, where she was a scholar in residence for several years. She has also lectured extensively at numerous Christian colleges and universities across the United States and Africa. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wycliffe Bible Translators, USA, and is an ordained clergy person in the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Nate Stratman (MDiv '13) has served for 14 years in full-time youth ministry, previously at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian church in Wilmington, North Carolina and currently at First Presbyterian of Colorado Springs as the Director of Family Ministries. Dr. Gladys Mwiti (PhDPSY '04, MACL '03) founded Oasis Africa with a purpose and commitment to bring healing to hurting communities in our world, and to build leadership committed to integrity and accountability. Dr. Mwiti holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology that she earned in Nairobi as well as an M.A. in Christian Leadership and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is the author of four books and a video based training curriculum for counselors in Africa, produced in conjunction with Fuller Seminary. She is currently the chair of the Kenya Psychological Association and a consultant to the Lausanne Consultation on Care and Counsel as Mission.

Her career passion is to train and support individuals and organizations in making a difference by bringing healing,empowerment, and resiliency to communities and persons who struggle with mental health challenges especially those related to traumatic stress and conflict. She has vast experience in Individual Psychotherapy, Training and Supervision of Professional Psychologists, Community Psycho-education. In addition, she is responsible for the Overall Management and Administration of a Large Psychological Counseling & Training Organization and its various Programs, Networking & Relationship Building, and Consultative and Solutions Advice.

About Sang-Yoon

Pastor Sanghoon Yoo (MDiv '07) was born in South Korea and came to the U.S. in 1991. He earned a master’s degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) at Michigan State University in 1994. While studying, he got involved in volunteer activities with the disaster management team of American Red Cross and critical incident debriefing team of Police and Fire Dept. in Greater Lansing Area. Also he worked with Dr. Janet Bell for a research project to investigate the psychological impact of a traumatic flight crash in South Korea, publishing a journal article with the research team in Tulane Studies in Social Welfare (2000).

Having moved to Arizona in 1994, he became a full time Christian minister. He founded ‘The Faithful City’ ministry at Arizona State University in 1998 and has been serving City In The Desert Metro-Church as associate pastor since 2000. In 1995, he served the first social worker team hired by Phoenix Fire Dept., launching C.A.R.E. program responding to mental health related 911 calls. He continues serving various Christian communities and movements in the Phoenix area.

Dave Hackett (MDiv '84): Living in Saudi Arabia as a child embedded Dave’s love for the world and the Middle East. He taught at Han Nam University in South Korea as a Presbyterian missionary and studied at Fuller Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Oxford University. Ordained as a Presbyterian minister since 1985, Dave was a mission pastor for eight years before serving as associate and executive director of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship for 12 years, coordinating unreached people group mission.
