SUMMARY:Missiology Lectures 2021
DESCRIPTION:Re-envisioning the Mission of Health: A Global Invitation to Heal and Thrive in Crisis\nOctober 27–29\, 2021\nThe church has been engaged in healing since its inception\, although understandings of health have shifted significantly over the centuries. The 21st-century global health crises call the church to once again examine and redefine its role. The Missiology Lectures 2021 will be a global\, multidisciplinary exploration of the mission of creating healthy individuals\, families\, communities\, and societies\, and the church’s role in this process. To this task\, Fuller Seminary’s School of Mission and Theology brings its ongoing commitment to global church dialogue\, along with the holistic research from the Thrive Center in the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy. This will be an online conference with a node in Ghana for participants in African and European time zones. In addition to an online chapel service\, six plenary sessions\, and three open dialogue sessions with thematically focused small groups\, there will be online access to exhibitors offering resources. SUMMARY:Missiology Colloquium 2021
DESCRIPTION:Intersections between Immigration\, Health\, and Faith in the Los Angeles Region\nMarch 18\, 2021\, 10AM – 2PM | View Schedule\nWhile COVID has affected everyone\, immigrants have been particularly negatively impacted – from health disparities to exclusion from government support programs to the economic fallout. The immediate crisis of COVID-19 has revealed the tenuousness of health-related support systems for immigrant communities and communities of color\, demonstrating that the goal of a sustainable healthy community remains out of reach for many. People of faith represent and provide support systems for people in need. What do faith leaders\, congregations\, and faith-based organizations need to do in order to create a healthy community that is fully inclusive of immigrants and their families? The Colloquium will address this question and create opportunities for a wider dialogue. It will feature presentations by interfaith and broad-based scholars and practitioners engaged with immigration and immigrant communities in Southern California. \n \nSchedule\n10:00AM – 11:00AM | Policies Impacting the Intersection of Health and Immigration\n\nDr. Manuel Pastor\, Distinguished Professor of Sociology and American Studies\, and Ethnicity at USC\, Director of the Equity Center\nCynthia Buiza\, Executive Director\, California Immigrant Policy Center\n\n11:00AM – 12:00PM | Faith Engagement in the Intersection of Health and Immigration in Southern California\n\nIsaac Cuevas\, Director of Immigration and Public Affairs\, Archdiocese of Los Angeles\nHyepin Im\, CEO/Founder\, Faith and Community Empowerment\nNiki Wong\, Redeemer Community Partnership (Stand Together Against Community Drilling – LA)\n\n12:30PM – 1:30PM | Innovative Models\n\nZachary Hoover\, Executive Director\, LA Voice\, Faith in Action\nDr. Kameelah Mu-Min Rashad\, Psy.D.\, Founder and President\, Muslim Wellness\nLisa Cummins\, President\, Urban Strategies\n\n1:30PM – 2:00PM | Dialogue\n\nSmall Groups\nReport Back\nPlenary Discussion

SUMMARY:2019 Missiology Lectures
DESCRIPTION:Techno-Sapiens in a Networked Era: Becoming Digital Neighbors\nHow does social media enable or constrain me in loving my (digital) neighbor? \nThe 2019 Missiology Lectures will look at how social media shapes human interaction\, and\, more specifically\, at the implications of social media platforms for cross-cultural or interreligious encounter. \nJoin us for a gathering of leading scholars of technology as it relates to theology\, religion\, and formation\, to explore the ways in which modern technology is neither solely a dehumanizing force in the world nor a mere instrument for evangelizing the world\, but rather the very means by which incarnation living happens—the media in and through which human bodies love the (digital) other. \nConference attendees will talk about technology as they interact with theologians\, educators\, missionaries\, and ministry leaders\, as well as engage in hands-on Virtual Reality experiences.
