Three steps begin your journey toward the MA in Chaplaincy program at Fuller: (1) familiarize yourself with the program, (2) learn about admission requirements, and (3) submit your application.

What are the requirements to be a candidate for admission to Fuller Theological Seminary's MA in Chaplaincy program?

- Reference(s)
- Applicants with an accredited bachelor’s degree and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) will be prompted to provide two references, one church/ministry leader reference and one academic/professional reference. One of the two references must be from someone in the field of chaplaincy or pastoral/spiritual care.
- Applicants with a cumulative undergraduate GPA below 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) and/or applicants without an accredited bachelor’s degree will be prompted to list three references, one reference from a church/ministry leader AND two references that are either academic or professional. One of the three references must be from someone in the field of chaplaincy or pastoral/spiritual care.
- Additional reference(s) may be required at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.
- Essay Responses - As part of the Application for Admission, you will be prompted to upload and submit your Statement of Purpose essay response to the following question into the application portal.
- Describe why you are applying to Fuller Theological Seminary and this specific degree program. Please include how this aligns with your Christian journey so far, your Christian influences, and your current understanding of how God is calling you to participate in God’s mission in the world, specifically in the field of chaplaincy. (500-750 words)
- Official Transcripts - Submit official transcripts from ALL post-secondary schools attended, including a transcript showing a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution, with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or above.
- All transcripts are evaluated in determining admission to Fuller master's degree programs.
- If you do not currently hold an accredited bachelor's or master's degree or will not receive an accredited bachelor's or master's degree before the desired term of entry, please contact the Admissions Office for further discussion at [email protected].
- Application Fee - A $75 non-refundable application fee is required for applicants applying online. You may pay your application fee online with a U.S. credit card, PayPal, check, money order, or international bank transfer.
- English Language Requirements - If you are interested in taking any classes in English and your native language is not English, you must meet this program's English language requirements.
- At the Admissions Committee's discretion, applicants may be required to interview with Masters of Arts in Chaplaincy Committee representatives.
