Earn Your MDiv Online or In Person

Fuller's world-renowned Master of Divinity degree is available as a fully online experience. Complete your MDiv from anywhere in the world, and apply your learning directly to your context as you study and engage with your online community.

Students seeking comprehensive theological training that includes in-person community may apply to the Pasadena MDiv Cohort or the Fuller Texas MDiv/MATM Cohort. These cohorts offer hybrid learning experiences that integrate online learning with in-person engagement. Two new cohorts start in Fall 2025. Cohort students will move together through a thoughtfully curated sequence of courses that includes in-depth biblical studies, theology from diverse voices, practical ministry preparation, and relevant resources from the fields of psychology and marriage and family therapy. Each cohort will foster a tight-knit community that shares the seminary experience.

Please note: International students who require a visa to study on campus may seek admission to the Fall 2026 Pasadena MDiv Cohort. All application materials must be submitted by May 1, 2026. If admitted, you must submit a request for an I-20 form to Fuller's International Services Office (iso@fuller.edu) by June 1, 2026. Please email admissions@fuller.edu to learn more about student visa eligibility.

Finish Your MDiv at a Faster Pace with the In-Service Pathway

Are you already working in a church or ministry? You can integrate your studies in the learning laboratory of your current ministry and finish your MDiv at a faster pace. The In-Service Pathway enables MDiv students serving in ministry at least 20 hours per week to earn up to 20 quarter units—approximately 20 percent of the MDiv’s required credits—through Apprenticeship courses.

Each Apprenticeship course is enhanced by FULLER Equip modules, created by Fuller experts to help you hone your skills in your ministry context. Apprenticeship group leaders guide thoughtful theological reflection, giving you the opportunity to share what you are learning with other ministry leaders in your program. Students who choose to take these courses for elective credit will not be able to complete a concentration. To learn more, email us at admissions@fuller.edu.

"I was drawn to the MDiv program because of its holistic and robust nature. On a deeper level, the MDiv continues to broaden my understanding of the breadth of the Bible and the character of God, in turn, stirring my passion for social justice."

Curriculum Overview

Fuller’s new MDiv curriculum builds a strong and comprehensive foundation for students who are leading or plan to lead congregations and nonprofit organizations, covering a wide range of subjects including biblical studies, communication, systematic theology, pastoral care, church history, and spiritual formation. At the same time, the degree enables students to tailor their MDiv experience to their context with specialized course offerings, providing focused preparation for their individual calling and career.

Coursework includes:

Foundational Courses (24 units): The first 24 units of the MDiv program introduce students to the keystone concepts and reasoning skills needed to engage in advanced courses.

Bible, Theology, Ministry, and Mission (64 units): Building on the foundational reasoning developed at the beginning of the program, MDiv students engage in a variety of courses that develop essential knowledge and habits for pastoral and other ministry professions.

Advanced Electives (20 units): Students have the opportunity to customize their degree by choosing elective courses that provide practical training for their own life and calling.
