Fuller Theological Seminary Celebrates 2024 Graduation with Over 550 Graduates Representing 40 Nations

Fuller Theological Seminary proudly announces the graduation of 558 students during its 2024 commencement ceremony. The graduates hail from 40 nations and various states, including California, Texas, and Arizona, showcasing the global reach and diverse community of the institution.

President David Emanuel Goatley said, “As we send you forth into the world, remember that your journey is just beginning. You are called to be agents of change, bearers of hope, and ambassadors of Christ’s love. Go with courage, serve with humility, and always keep your eyes fixed on the path that God has set before you. May your actions reflect the values and teachings you have embraced during your time at Fuller.”

The 2024 graduating class includes degrees awarded in multiple disciplines such as psychology, marriage and family therapy, theology, intercultural studies, and ministry leadership. Specifically, 332 graduates attended the commencement ceremony on campus in Pasadena. The class includes 146 graduates from the School of Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, and 369 graduates from the School of Mission and Theology. In total, the Seminary granted just over 55 different degrees this year.

Dr. Lisseth Rojas-Flores, Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Clinical Psychology Department, was honored with the prestigious Weyerhaeuser Award for her outstanding contributions to scholarship, teaching, and academic leadership. Dr. Rojas-Flores is celebrated for her pioneering research on trauma and parental deportation effects among Latino citizen children and her work with World Vision USA on faith-based parenting programs in the global South.

This year marks Fuller’s 33rd commencement at Lake Avenue Church, a partnership that underscores the Seminary’s long-standing commitment to its community. The event was a time for graduates, their families, and friends to come together and celebrate this significant milestone.

Dr. Alexis Abernethy, Chief Academic Officer, expressed her pride in the graduates, stating, “This graduating class embodies the dedication and resilience that Fuller Theological Seminary strives to cultivate. Our students have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated a deep commitment to serving their communities and making a positive impact in the world. We are excited to see the many ways they will continue to live out their callings.”
